Description: Trauma is overwhelming and disorienting. Spiritual trauma is wounding at a foundational level because the wounds are caused in the context of those who are meant to care for us. Yet stories of people wounded in their faith contexts and by religious authorities abound. How should we respond? This course focuses on providing therapeutic care to those suffering from spiritual trauma. We will look at counselling methodologies that are safe and care for the whole person. We will consider ethical and cross-cultural aspects to this care. Insights to the underlying dynamics of spiritual trauma can help us to support true recovery and resilience.
